Who does what under each Incoterm
The trade term on your purchase order sets who books and pays the main freight, who insures, who clears customs and where risk passes from seller to buyer.

Simplified summary. Incoterms® is a trademark of the International Chamber of Commerce; always state the rule, named place and “Incoterms® 2020” on contracts. Under DAP, DPU and DDP the seller usually insures because it carries the risk in transit. Read our guide to choosing an Incoterm.
